SiteSpruce Audit Terms
Last updated: January 2026
These terms explain what The Audit covers, how it works, and what to expect once an audit is agreed.
They exist to keep expectations clear and protect the independence and intent of the work.
1. What The Audit covers
The Audit is an independent, advisory service focused on diagnosis and decision support.
The Audit is designed to:
- Examine how a website is functioning as a system
- Identify underlying patterns affecting clarity, journeys, performance, and trust
- Explain why issues exist and how they connect
- Surface what matters most to address, what can wait, and what would be risky to change too early
- Support informed, defensible decisions about what to do next
The primary deliverable is a plain-English written report, intended to be shared with internal stakeholders, developers, or agencies as a reference point for decision-making.
2. What The Audit does not cover
To protect its independence and usefulness, The Audit does not include:
- Design mock-ups, wireframes, or visual concepts
- Detailed technical specifications, tickets, or implementation plans
- Code changes or platform configuration
- Ongoing optimisation, monitoring, or retainers
- Ownership of delivery outcomes or performance metrics
The Audit does not guarantee outcomes such as increased traffic, conversions, rankings, or revenue. Final decisions and implementation always sit with you and the people delivering the work.
3. Scope and inputs
- The Audit is based on your live, public website at the time the work is carried out.
- Scope is agreed in advance based on the complexity of the site, number of audiences, and decisions at stake.
- For larger or more complex sites, The Audit may focus on representative templates, journeys, or sections rather than every page. This will always be confirmed before work begins.
- Access to private systems or CMSs is not normally required for The Audit itself. If access is needed for any reason, this will be agreed separately.
4. Deliverables and timing
- You will receive a written Audit report within the agreed delivery window.
- Typical delivery is 10–14 days, depending on complexity. If deeper patterns emerge that affect timing, this will be flagged early.
- The Audit is considered complete once the report has been delivered.
Optional clarification
If helpful, a one-off follow-up call may be offered to clarify the findings and discuss next steps at a high level. This is intended to support understanding of the report, not to replace it or provide ongoing advisory.
5. Fees and payment
- Audit fees are agreed in advance based on scope and complexity.
- Payment is required in full before work begins.
- Once payment is received, your audit slot and delivery window are confirmed.
All pricing relates to diagnostic and advisory work only. Implementation, handover support, or oversight are not included unless explicitly agreed.
6. Optional add-ons
Additional services such as implementation handover packs, strategic guidance sessions, or implementation oversight are optional and governed by their own agreed scope.
These services exist to protect the intent of The Audit during decision-making and delivery, not to replace agencies or take ownership of execution.
7. Client responsibilities
You remain responsible for:
- Decisions made based on The Audit
- Selecting and managing delivery partners
- Implementation choices and outcomes
- Maintaining backups, security, and access to your systems
The Audit is intended to support better decisions, not to replace internal or external responsibility.
8. Use of the Audit report
The Audit report is provided for your internal use. You may:
- Share it with colleagues, stakeholders, or delivery partners
- Use it to inform briefs, proposals, or planning discussions
You may not:
- Resell the report
- Present it as your own intellectual property or service
Any use of anonymised examples for case studies or portfolio purposes will only occur with your explicit consent.
9. Confidentiality
All information shared during The Audit process is treated as confidential.
If any temporary access is provided for follow-up support, it will only be used for the agreed purpose and can be revoked at any time.
10. Cancellations and refunds
- If you cancel before work begins, a full refund will be issued.
- Once work has started, fees are non-refundable, as time and expertise have already been committed.
- If SiteSpruce is unable to complete The Audit due to unforeseen circumstances, a revised delivery date or an appropriate refund will be offered.
